Hi! I’m Pilar Hernández, a surface pattern designer who lives in the coastal southern California town of Oceanside.  I'm drawn to rich and dramatic designs and I find inspiration in folklore from all over the world and in nature.

I'm influenced by the variety of places and cultures I've experienced first hand. I grew up in a little town in the mountains of northern New Mexico, and I've lived in seven U.S. states as well as in Spain, Mexico and Costa Rica.

My work is available for licensing or to buy outright. Collaborations and commissions are welcome. To view my portfolio, please fill out this contact form and I'll be happy to share.

I'll be exhibiting at Surtex 2017 as part of the Pattern Heads Collective.

What brings me joy?
Family, sunshine, ALL the reds, big earrings, travel, historical fiction, flip-flops, making patterns, big toothy smiles, the ocean, fresh coffee, chocolate, 70°F weather, water fountains, Bollywood music, and bright nail polish.
